27-May-2016 – Release of DNP TB2016-002

The DNP Technical Committee has released Technical Bulletin TB2016-002 Addressing Deficiencies in DNP3-SAv5. This document details identified deficiencies and vulnerabilities in DNP3 Secure Authentication version 5 (DNP3-SAv5) that must be corrected.

21-Apr-2016 Use of alternative test specifications

It has been decided by the WITS Committee that we can no longer accept applications for WITS certification unless the Testing has been done using the WITS Test Specification. The reason for this is that we do not have the resources for checking any alternative versions written by vendors for compliance to the standard.

The WITS Test Specification is available for purchase as before from the WITS Secretary at a price of £3,000.

21-Apr-2016 WITS-DNP3 Protocol Version 3.0 released

Version 3.0 of the Protocol has now been released, merging all previous versions into a single one. In addition, Devices supporting WITS-DNP3 version 3.0 are now able to make use of the following enhancements:

Use the Protocol in an optimised manner when devices first establish a communications session, significantly reducing the number of message exchanges between the Master Station and the Field Devices.

A new version of the Technical Documentation Pack – Release 6 – is now available. Please note that:

The apps notes are now in a single PDF file per stream (i.e. one for WITS version 1.x and one for WITS version 2.x). All old versions of apps notes should now be archived and this latest version used.

25-Apr-2015 Application Note AN2005-002 Version 1.6 Published

AN2005-002 version 1.6 has been published. It can be viewed in the Library section of the website.

The updates are:

Clarified the priority of connection records in section 2.3. Add “sampled data” to the list of IC topics in 2.5.2.
Clarified the statement about the use of standard DNP3 event objects in section 2.4.2.
Added section 2.4.8 describing values and states.
