AN2005-002 version 1.6 has been published. It can be viewed in the Library section of the website.

The updates are:

• Clarified the priority of connection records in section 2.3. Add “sampled data” to the list of IC topics in 2.5.2.
• Clarified the statement about the use of standard DNP3 event objects in section 2.4.2.
• Added section 2.4.8 describing values and states.

Now that two of our Master Station suppliers are now offering Test Master Station Licences (see previous news items), we have updated the Certification process to incorporate this.

The WITS technical sub-group have agreed to:

• Publish TB#47, describing binary inputs states, values and persistence.
• Publish TB#52, clarifying WITS connection records and dual end points.

We’ve also had a vendor point out an inconsistency in two areas of the application notes. As a result the group have agreed to:

• Publish TB#54, correcting the FD behaviour when applying or removing action inhibits.

The WITS Compliance Manual is issued as a guide for producing and maintaining WITS Compliant Devices. It was noticed that some of the content needed updating and rationalising.

The WITS Technical team have gone through the Compliance Manual and have updated and revised the content to version 2.7 which has now been published.

Vendors may wish to make amendments/enhancements to their WITS certified products post certification. It is recognised that we need to provide a method for vendors to update their certification details and these changes need to be noted in the Device Catalogue without necessarily going through a full re-certification.

The WITS Roadmap which records all the versions of the Protocol and Technical Bulletins has been updated.

Also the Technical Bulletins Index has been updated to include the new TB51.

Both have both been published on the website.

It has been observed that several Field Device vendors have misinterpreted the Application Notes regarding the use of Incremental Configuration to configure a Field Device with a mix of static limit thresholds and profiles on analogue and counter points. Technical Bulletin 51 clarifies this issue and contains amendments to the Test Specification to check for incorrect behaviour.

Errors in the PSA Test Specification have been identified in 3 specific tests. TB49 which covers corrections to these errors has just been published by the WITS Technical Committee.
