13-June-2013 New functionality added to the WITS-DNP3 protocol

A Field Device that is periodically logging a counter value is required to reset the counter to zero after the current value has been logged at the end of the period. Any other event log for the counter point does not affect the counter value.

13-June-2013 2 WITS streams created

In order to accommodate new and legacy  versions of DNP3 Secure Authentication, the Committee has decided that henceforth there will be 2 WITS streams:

  • Ver 1.3 (which includes SAV2 security)
  • Ver 2.1 (which includes SAV5 security) 

New TBs will be incorporated into both versions. The two release packs are now available:

  • Release Pack 5-SAv2 (documents for WITS-DNP3 version 1.3)
  • Release Pack 5-SAv5 (documents for WITS-DNP3 version 2.1)

Recent new members

We are pleased to welcome Mitsubishi and the Environment Agency as new Members. The EA were founder members of the original development team.

We now have a total of 79 members of the Protocol Standards Association and we are growing all the time. We welcome all organisations both large and small. The PSA is going from strength to strength and the WITS Protocol is growing in acceptance as the international standard for Water industry telemetry.

27-Sept-2012 Technical Bulletin 43 released

WITS Technical Bulletin TB43 has been released and is available to members in the Members library. This TB will be included in the upcoming WITS V2.1 release (in addition to the existing TB42). TB43 clarifies IC records 1000, 1001 and 1009. It also clarifies actions when applying and removing action inhibits. A correction is also made to the introductory section describing data set prototypes.
