The WITS-PSA presented our WITS-IOT project at the IWA event held as part of the WWEM (Water, Wastewater and Environmental Monitoring) 2016 exhibition and conference. WWEM 2016 was held at the International Centre in Telford, England on 2nd and 3rd November.

The WITS Expo is over and it was a great success.

We had 91 attendees listening to our ideas and direction for the WITS protocols. We gave an update on where WITS is now, why you should adopt WITS and what needs WITS-DNP3 is failing to satisfy. WITS History

WITS was formed in 2003 with the aim of developing a single telemetry protocol allowing any Field Device to connect to any Master System. Seven years later WITS-DNP3 protocol development was completed and to date some 8,400 outstations have gone into service across five UK water companies.

Anglian Water Services has awarded five year frameworks for the supply of WITS-DNP3 outstations to multiple vendors. The frameworks cover the supply of telemetry outstations for the following asset types –

  • Lot 1: Compact data logger/outstation suitable to monitor infrastructure assets e.g. District Metering, Pressure and CSO’s
